Install DOCsys
==============

The program requires a Windows computer. It does not run on Mac. It does not run on Linux.

DOCsys
======
1.) Set up a directory for DOCsys (e.g. C:\Programs\DOCsys)
2.) Download DOCsys.zip in C:\Program Files\DOCsys
3.) Extract DOCsys.zip (with WinZip) to C:\Programs\DOCsys

gnuplot --- Only required if DOCsys bar graphs are to be displayed in the Result-Window ("Ergebnisse") by clicking on "Plot"
=======
4.) Set up a directory for gnuplot (e.g. C:\Programs\gnuplot)
5.) Download GPT35WIN.ZIP in C:\Program\gnuplot
Note:
The Gnuplot program is a highly recommended plot program (http://www.gnuplot.info).
Version 5 is currently available.
DOCsys only works without problems and as intended with version 3.5, which is supplied with the DOCsys installation.
6.) Extract GPT35WIN.ZIP (with WinZip)
to C:\Program Files\gnuplot

Note for Windows 10:
Version 3.5 is a 16bit version and no longer runs on Windows 10.
If you have Windows 10, install the current version of Gnuplot: http://www.gnuplot.info
The "doc.exe" program generates the "bars.plt" file with every calculation run.
"bars.plt" contains the line "data style boxes", which should read from version 4.0 onwards: "style data boxes".
Furthermore it makes sense to choose "set terminal windows".
After the calculation and before plotting the bar charts, the file "bars.plt" must be corrected.
You can do this by double-clicking on "correct.bat". To do this, fnr.exe must exist in the directory.
After clicking on "Plot" in the "Result" window, Gnuplot opens.
Now the file "bars.plt" must be opened with "File" and "Open".

doc.ini --- Usually no changes are necessary here
=======
7.) Possibly the variables OUIDICTPATH ??and OUIHELPPATH set in "doc.ini"
(ONLY if files "* .oui" and "* .hlp" are not in the same
Directory as "doc.exe")

Additional information in doc.hlp,
     Topic: "Initialisierungsdatei: doc.ini"
(See table of contents under "Dateien")

gnuplotPath.ini
===============
8.) Enter the path for "gnuplotExe" in "gnuplotPath.ini"
(ONLY if different from "C:\Program\gnuplot\wgnuplot.exe")

Additional information in doc.hlp,
Topic: "Initialization file: gnuplotPath.ini"
(See table of contents under "Dateien")

Create working directory --- Not required if you are working in the directory of doc.exe
========================
 9.) Read additional information in doc.hlp,
     Topic: "Arbeitsverzeichnis erstellen"
(see table of contents under "Dateien")
10.) Set up a directory for the calculations with DOCsys
e.g. C:\My Documents\DOCsys calculations
11.) Create a shortcut on the desktop with doc.exe
12.) Set the working directory in the DOCsys icon on the desktop so
as described in doc.hlp.
13.) Copy the files EngineData.txt, DelayData.txt, CostData.txt,
InflationCountry.txt and gnuplotPath.ini into the working directory.
14.) Copy the "sample database" "System.db" in the
working directory.

Unlock DOCsys
=============
Once upon a time, DOCsys had a license key, but
DOCsys also work without a license.
For this, the file msds.sys must be copied into the root directory of drive C:\

Start of DOCsys
===============
Double click on the DOCsys icon on the desktop if this has been set up under "Create working directory".

Otherwise just double click on the file doc.exe.
Open System.db and "check out" the program with the data.

Activate Windows help
=====================
The Windows help system was abolished with Windows Vista.
The help in DOCsys therefore no longer works on new PCs / laptops.
See:
https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/help/917607/feature-not-included-help-not-supported-error-opening-help-windows

The help is also available in the Portal Document Format (PDF):
Program help: doc.pdf
Calculation help: docmath.pdf

It is nicer to look at these help files:
DOC.HLP
DOCMATH.HLP
because the information in these files is linked with one another.

You can display the help by starting the winhlp32.exe file and display the *.HLP files.

If you want to call the help of DOCsys from the program as planned - including context-sensitive help -
then you have to replace the file winhlp32.exe (which only displays that help does not work) on your computer
by the file winhlp32.exe, which is supplied with DOCsys.

Either proceed as specified by Microsoft Support (see above) or:
You delete winhlp32.exe from your computer (or rename it winhlp32_message.exe) and
copy the file winhlp32.exe, which is supplied with DOCsys into the same directory.

The operating system may tell you that you do not have access to the winhlp32.exe file (even as an administrator).
You then have to first grant "full access" to the file as a user or administrator by right-clicking, Properties, Security.

For Windows 10 in particular, this requires a few steps:
=> Right click, properties, security
=> Advanced, Add, Select Principal
=> Extended, Search now
=> Double click on "admin", Ok
=> Click "Full access" (tick the box), Ok
=> Ok, "You are about to change the permission settings ...", Yes, Ok
=> Again: Right click, Properties, Security and the new rights are displayed. Done!

P.S.:
=====
A.) The content of the files EngineData.txt, CostData.txt and DelayData.txt
is not a service that is "purchased" with the DOCsys program.
Nevertheless, I put together a few things to get you started faster.
    There are therefore two other files
DelayDlh.txt and
DelayNasa.txt
The content of both files could be used in place of DelayData.txt.
The DelayData.txt file initially contains Lufthansa data.
The same is true for the DelayDlh.txt file.
B.) If the installation does not work as described here,
then I can probably help quickly on the phone.
C.) The (context-sensitive) help for DOCsys should clarify everything else.
