Inauguration of the Royal Aeronautical Society Hamburg Branch

The Hamburg Branch held its inaugural lecture evening on 19 October [2005]. The event took place at the British Consulate by kind permission of Her Majesty’s Consul-General, Tim Collard. A cocktail reception sponsored by Airbus Deutschland followed lectures by Capt Claus Cordes on ‘Heinkel meets Rolls-Royce’, and Capt David Rowland on ‘Concorde — an Aerospace Success Story’. Sir Colin Terry and Hamburg Branch Chairman, Dr Hans Altfeld, also addressed the audience of 90 invited guests. The attendance list illustrated the great depth and diversity of the aerospace community in Hamburg with numerous organisations and no fewer than 11 different nationalities represented at the event.
